Story Behind Touch Screen

Let's spend some time to gather a little information about touch screen. Firstly, we can go through the definition. "A touch screen is a display device which allows the user to interact with an electronic data processing device such as mobiles, computers, TVs, etc by touching areas on the screen". We all are aware of what actually the touch screen is. Today we will say, "There is nothing big in it" Because it became that much popular. The idea was so bright, that's why it gains such a popularity. Touch screens are used to input messages or to communicate with a device as mentioned in the definition. The influence of touch screens is increasing day by day in the field of knowledge as well as in the field of entertainment.
At early times there were punched cards and paper tapes instead of keyboards, but after years of hard work and sacrifices gifted Keyboard as a standard input device. People were very curios to invent something special other than keyboard in the second half of the twentieth century to interact with computers. U.S Inventor Douglas Engelbart invented the computer mouse in the early 1960s. Proceeding to Mouse in 1971 Dr. Samuel C Hurst invented the electronic touch screen interface, that made a huge change in computer interaction. He faced many challenges while inventing touch screen, one of the big challenge was to read a huge amount of data from a strip chart. But later he got a different idea, that made his task more easier. By using Elograph coordinate measuring system he invented an input tablet that could measure where the user was pressing a stylus. Later he founded Elographics company to make and sell the device. As a result of three years of hard work, His team succeeded in making proper transparent screen. Elograph company (Today known as Elo Touch Systems) launched the Today's latest technology consisted with five unique resistive touch screens with transparent layers. In other words A resistive touch screen panel is coated with a thin metallic electrically conductive and resistive layer that causes a change in the electrical current which is registered as a touchevent and sent to the controller for processing.
